Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Phaneuf has pioneered new techniques for detailed quantitative studies of single collisions between elusive atomic particles. His development of skillful procedures employing interacting beams of ions, electrons, photons, and atoms at extremely low densities produces unique results on fundamental processes occuring in astrophysical environments as well as in hot laboratory plasmas. Together with his German hosts he pursues studies on transient atomic states decaying by electron emission with sub-nanosecond life times.
